No reason for the Soviets to take it and the two differ too much ideologically. Hell, communism might spread to Indonesia instead of Islam and become the dominant political force there.
I would not be surprised to see Somalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia and many other Eastern African nations fall to communism. The Soviet Union now controls the Suez Canal, the Strait or Hormuz and over 50% of the world’s oil supply.Īt this point, the USSR can begin expanding their influence into Africa. They advance down Arabia to as far as the oil fields, then the rest become satellite states. In the Middle East, the Soviets take most of the ‘Stans while Pakistan becomes a satellite state. Of course, the Soviet Union wouldn’t be able to hold that much of China for long, so they’d probably settle for Manchuria and let China become a subservient nation. In Asia, the Soviet Union takes most of China, Korea, Japan, and the rest of China, Taiwan, and the Philippines become satellite states. Turkey is also likely to become a heavily Soviet-influenced nation. Britain likely remains independent, and Switzerland and Ireland remain neutral.
To compromise with the Allies, the Soviets would probably let them “have” northern France and install their own puppet government there. Light red is countries heavily influenced by the Soviet Union. End of the war, Europe looks rather like this: Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Germany, and possibly even most of France are going to get overrun in months. The Nazis either die during Barbarossa or in the ensuing Soviet invasion afterwards. Most of, if not all, of Europe falls to the Soviet Union. Well, this is a fairly straightforward scenario.
